I’ve had some decently good luck with new beauty products lately thanks to my friends and free samples! Anytime I order makeup through Nordstrom, I always take advantage of the awesome samples they send. I usually go for the fragrances, but I also have been trying their facial products, too.
Here I’ve compiled a little list of goodies that have done some wonders for me lately!
This foundation is going to be my go-to for the next few months for sure. It’s got SPF 20 built into it, plus it matches to my skin tone perfectly. It’s liquid, but it’s still lightweight which is what I need for the Texas heat [already… ahem… it’s March]. The sample I received was for the “Naturel” tint, and it works like a charm for me.

If you get your hair colored or treated, then you know you gotta put some moisture back in those locks afterwards. My hair stylist recommended this one that I use about twice a week, and I’ve seen a major difference in the softness and the strength of my hair. I use it instead of my conditioner and just let it sit in my hair for about 10 minutes (I do a face mask, too just to knock it out at the same time). #mama’sgottawatchthatclock

I’m diggin’ my new color these days – back to blonde, ahhhhhh… feels good.

This next little gem is one my sister-in-law told me about. At first, I wasn’t sure it would really do any good. I mean really… now we need primer for our mascara, too? Guh. I was definitely wrong. I never have to reapply my mascara anymore now that I’m using the primer. It’s really cheap, too. I only put on a little above and below my upper eye and a smidge on my lower lashes. I definitely recommend it if you notice your mascara starts to look a little lack-luster by the end of the day.

I use Aveda facial cleansers now because they seem to work best with my skin. I’ve tried all kinds of skin products, and I’m convinced that there are specific ones that work for specific people. A lot of my friends don’t like Aveda products for their skin while the products they use make my face dry up like a prune. I’ve got combination skin (oily + dry in places… real cute), so I really have to have a great night cream. This little diddy has done me some good. I can tell it’s plant-based because I don’t smell or feel anything weird when I put it on. It’s thick, but not heavy, too which is a definite plus.

I wore this nail polish for a wedding I was in a few weeks ago, and I just keep reapplying it! It’s the PERFECT orange/pink/awesome color I wanted for spring. It’s called Hot & Spicy, too which makes me feel a little hotter and spicier when I wear it. Ooohh lala.

Wooooooooowwwiiiiieeeee!!!! We’ve finally got curtains! Just a mere seven months after moving in, but we’ve got ’em. It was really tough to find curtains that were the right length, texture, color, fabric (better be machine washable, man), and price.

We finally settled on these bad boys at good ole Target.
For our very tall part of the living room, we bought the 144″ curtains.

And for the kitchen area, we bought the 108″ length.
(the dog adds a cozy feel, right?)

I did some [very little] decorating for spring/Easter. It’s tough to get some color flowin’ in this room, so I add some pops of purples and greens hoping to brighten the space.

I’m digging the “natural” wood colored pieces in Target and other places these days. I think it’s beautiful when you combine that with some modern/contemporary type things.

This little nook in our entryway is one of my favorite places! I love a good ledge to throw stuff on. I’m quirky like that.

Our mantle didn’t change much – just threw some green up there.

We went back to Dallas this past weekend and visited one of our favorite places. There’s a beautiful park we used to run to (before Corey, obvi) and around. There are beautiful trees, bridges, and best of all, ducks!

This guy was in heaven the whole time. Plus, he was lookin’ pretty stylish in his new jacket his godmama got him!

We also enjoyed just being lazy and hangin’ in our TMNT pj’s.

This guy is alllllll boy. That scratch – didn’t phase him. Not one bit. Those teeth however… definitely phasing him. #naptimeishappytime

If you’re on the lookout for a good [but cheap] facial mask, this guy is AWESOME! You can only use it once a week, but I’ve noticed a huge difference in my pores already. They already feel cleaner and even a little smaller. Plus, scaring my husband while I wear it is definitely worth it.

I bought this brush to use with the mask. It literally feels like I’m an artist when I’m painting my face! That’s probably the closest I should get to art, too. I’m kind of awful with anything creative like that. The bonus is that the mask washes off very easily from the brush with a little warm water.

These two melt my heart. Penny lets Corey jump and play and cuddle with her all day. Osa on the other hand… let’s just say she’s still mad from when we brought Penny home.

And to end with a little tax humor [because I hate tax season and all things money and math]:

Have you ever heard of the Like It to Know It app on Instagram? It’s genius. It’s brilliant. It’s of the devil, I’m sure. If you like a picture that has Like It to Know It attached, you’ll receive an email containing the links of all the things pictured in that photo. DIRECT LINKS. TO THE ITEM. IN YOUR EMAIL. It’s great! Except I buy wayyyy too much from this little brilliant idea.
The great thing though is that I’ve found some awesome staples through the app. I’ve decided to list a few of my favorite finds lately for you, just in case you didn’t spend enough over the holidays (on yourself anyways).
Anyone who’s gone through the holidays most likely is feeling charged up to work off those extra pounds that eating and drinking can get you while you’re rockin’ around that Christmas tree. These leggings are PERFECT for working out (or wearing every day no matter what – don’t you judge me). They’re high waisted, so they won’t roll down no matter how much you’re movin’ and groovin’. I may or may not own four pairs.

After having a baby and allllllll the glorious things that follow, I really needed some new bras. I tried this new brand at Nordstrom called Natori. I’m. In. Love. Victoria [‘s Secret], I hate to say it, but our relationship has now ended. These bras are comfortable, pretty, and I can wear them all day and not want to burn them because I’m so done with it.

I know this isn’t really a fashion item, but these tweezers are the bomb! I’ve had them for probably two years now, and I have to say I’ll never use any others again. They are fine enough to get those difficult little hairs, but strong enough that you don’t have to keep trying to yank ’em out. You can even send them back to have them sharpened if they lose their perfect grip. I have one pair in my purse (because hello – natural sun = best light for seeing everything you need to pluck… ‘m I right?) and the other in my bathroom.

I get compliments on these little gems every time that I wear them. They’re so cute and comfy and bonus – I don’t even wear socks with ’em! I wouldn’t recommend these for working out, but more for running errands and things like that.
toms sneakers
This vest is my favorite little find over the past few months. You can never have too many puffy vests, right? Plus, it’s perfect for whatever climate you’re in during the winter because you can either have a light or heavy layer underneath. The red really made me feel in the Christmas spirit, too. Although I definitely plan on wearing it even now that the season is done!
