Life Lately and Weekly Meal Plan
Rule #414: Inflatable pools can only keep you cool for so long.
This summer continues to be crazy busy, but full of good times with even better people! We got to sneak away for a double date night on Friday night. We got all gussied up and drove in town to Bosscat Kitchen to try out their Restaurant Week Menu!
We haven’t seen these awesome friends in a hot minute! It was so nice to get to catch up with them over great food and good drinks!
We loved Bosscat! Their drinks were delicious, but slightly pricey. I was pretty disappointed in their wine pour, too. I think it was maybe a 5 oz. pour each time, and for $13 a glass, Mama wasn’t loving that!
What they lacked in wine pouring they more than made up for in their food! We tried alllll of the things! To start, we had their Pulled Pork Hush Puppies.
Spicy Chicken + Cheese Dip
I tried their Heirloom Tomato Bisque (it was a meal in itself, so we took most of it home)!
Jon Boy got the crab cake as part of the Restaurant Week Menu.
They had a Mac n Cheese with French Onions that will forever be in my dreams. We made a big dent in this skillet of deliciousness, but definitely took home most of it!
And ohhhh my. I don’t even care that this picture is blurry. For my entree, I had the Cajun Brick Chicken with Dirty Rice. Holy happy tastebuds! It was amazing. I literally threw my hands in the air and praised the Lord for this goodness. So full of flavor! The chicken was crispy, the rice was spicy but had a nice zip, and even the green beans impressed me. My mouth is watering as I type, and I’m thinking I need to recreate this one at home. Or I may be haunted forever.
We’ve been sneaking in a little (and I do mean little… this one only lasts about an hour and a half in the heat) pool time while the summer is still here!
Brookie got the CUTEST little cover-up from her KiKi, so we obviously had to show it off at the neighborhood pool. I can’t wait to see her in it when we head to the Lost Pines Resort in Austin next weekend! Also that fella holding her is awfully hunky. I think I’ll bring him to ATX with us.
All the cool kids in the inflatable pool say heyyyyyy! This was definitely our last inflatable pool day for the season. We’re officially past the point of heat relief from this little things. It’s just too darn hot down here now! We had fun (I even jumped in for a while), but I think it’s time to pack it up and pray for fall.
This little nugget loved her little pool, too! She’s not afraid of a little splishing and splashing!
The princess also now has a throne of her own! Her Noni bought her this big girl chair for her 1st birthday (a little early)! I can’t even with the ruffles. It’s fitting for her sassy and vibrant personality. I also can’t believe she’s about to be one.
I think my favorite part of this summer has been the lunch dates with my kiddos. We normally only hit up the cafe at the gym, but it’s one of my favorite parts of the week! I get a salad and salivate as I watch them eat macaroni and cheese or chicken quesadillas. It’s not a long lunch, but I really treasure getting time alone with my crazies.
It’s also been fun to watch these two nuggets play together… like actually together and not just Corey entertaining her. They wrestle, laugh, play, sing (ish), and it makes me want to have about 8 more (kidding). I’m also entering the, “Mom! She’s touching my toys!” phase, so that’s delightful.
Speaking of delightful. It’s delightful to be showered and in pj’s with wine in hand before 5pm. I love me some lazy summer days! I’m going to be honest and say I am MORE than ready for school to start. Both kiddos will be going to a Mother’s Day Out/Preschool situation in the fall (Corey for 3 days and Brooke for 2). I’m ready to stroll the aisles of Target or Hobby Lobby with a Basic B Starbucks in one hand and NOTHING in the other. I’m gonna blast Lizzo on loud, roll the windows down, and just enjoy the alone time! It’s going to be a real treat to not have to find a sitter to go to the gynecologist or the dentist, too. It’s the little things!
I haven’t said much on this little ole blog about my weight loss/fitness/health business, but I’ve been doing my best to lose my baby + grief weight. I gained more than my fair share after Corey was born because I was working through my brother’s death on Taco Bell visit at a time. I absolutely love our gym though, and the time I spend there has become sacred to me. It’s been good for my anxiety, sanity, and sleep to get to go and workout my issues on the spin bike or with some weights. If you’ve never tried Body Pump, I’d highly recommend it!
I posted about these meatballs on my Insta Stories, but I had to bring it up here. I can’t say enough good things about these freezer meatballs! It’s a lot of work to prep, but then you’ve got meals ready-to-go for months. Definitely a recipe I’d recommend for the upcoming busy school season!
I also posted on my Insta Stories about my two Fiddle Leaf Fig Trees (Fernando and Fiona). Both of them were $12 on Amazon, and I’ve had Fernando for over 5 years now. He’s a blooming fella now that he’s got a girlfriend in Fiona. They both sprouted new leaves after I planted her in her little pot. I had a few questions about their planters, so here’s a link to those!
I’ve wanted to organize our master closet since we moved in almost 3 years ago, but somehow never found the time. (Something about 2 kids, the hubs, a dog, and my sanity.) I’m finally getting around to it thanks to the help from my sister-in-law! I’m not finished yet, but I feel better about it already! I’ll do a full post about it all once I’m done with the project.
This little handbag and purse organizer was a true find from Amazon! Can’t wait to share it!
Happy Sunday, y’all! Fingers crossed we’re all done with triple-digit heat. I’m ready for pumpkins, chili, and football personally! I hope you enjoyed this Life Lately and Weekly Meal Plan post!
