What’s Up Wednesday + Nordstrom Fall Sale

Rule #97: Don’t let your toddlers take chickens home.

We took a little adventure to Dewberry Farm last week with our buddies! It was hotter than Hades, but it was absolutely worth it! Corey loved seeing the Christmas Tree farm on our tractor ride, and I think he would’ve taken a chicken home if I’d let him. But then that would be another creature I’d be in charge of feeding + cleaning up after. And I feel like chickens are sassy. They’ve got a lot of back-talk going on I think. Nope. No chickens came home with this crew.

This little turkey had his Thanksgiving Feast at school Monday. It was the cutest stinking thing I’ve ever seen. They even sang a song about how the turkey has to run away from the cook. I cannot even. It’s been such a fun progression to see him go from a little toddler last year to a small boy this year. At this age, he and his buddies are actually ‘playing’ and having full-on conversations (in their own language sometimes…). It’s precious!

“Hey lady! Don’t forget about me!” Little bits here has been one trooper of an infant. (Knocks on wood profusely until knuckles are bloody.) She’s been sleeping 8 hours in a row at night! Hallelujah! I had to snag a picture of her with her panda sweat suit on. I mean… how can it get better than a bow + bear sweats, I ask you?

I’ve been having fun shopping lately, too. I know, I know. We’re all shocked, right? Here are some gems I’ve found:

MIHOLL Tie Front Top ($20)

I’m diggin’ the tie front top these days. It’s fitting enough to not look like a trash bag on your torso, but also loose enough to be Mom-Level-Comfortable. It comes in a bajillion colors + short/long sleeve.

Gibson Cozy Tunic

I’m kind of obsessed with this tunic top (I have it in blue, too – it comes in 6 colors). I bought it during the Anniversary Sale this summer, but it’s back to that price with the sale going on right now! A good tunic top is hard to find. This one is a perfect length, SUPER soft, and I love the fit. I’m wearing a small for reference. These boots have been my jam lately; they’re comfy and still stylish. And I can’t stop, won’t stop with these leggings ($15).

Side note: I SERIOUSLY need to clean that mirror. Can you tell I have small children?!

Speaking of small children… I recently discovered these at the good ole H-E-B in the frozen section. Y’all. They’re friggin’ delicious. They take 1 minute to microwave (because Lord knows dinner time is cray cray), and Corey loved them. I secretly made a few for myself because they’re a pretty dang good snack.

Jon Boy requested poached eggs the other day for breakfast, and I could’ve kissed him on the mouth. Okay, I did kiss him on the mouth, but not just because of the poached egg request. I love me a good gooey egg over an English muffin. MMMMhmmmmm. Too bad I’m going low carb and this was Jon Boy’s plate. I had mine with goat cheese + tomatoes, and it was still mighty tasty. I’m going to do a post soon about achieving the perfect poached egg.

I made myself a little Happy Hour Charcuterie Board complete with Santa plastic wine glass (hello, dishwasher safe – Mama don’t like to handwash). It may have also been my lunch that just didn’t take place until 5:00. That’s just how it goes sometimes though! And yes, feel free to judge away. We are definitely decorated for Christmas already.

HO-HO-HO HONEY BUN!

I am SUPER excited about sharing a new recipe with y’all soon. Parmesan Caesar Broccoli. WHHHATT! It’s delicious. It’s low carb. It’s a vegetable. It’s ready in 25 minutes. It’s scrumptious enough to make you jingle those bells, baby*. We had ours with Mediterranean Turkey Burgers and Roasted Red Potatoes with Truffle Oil.

*be ready for all the cheesy holiday puns + metaphors… they’re a comin’*
