Transition Time: Summer to Fall
Now that fall is here, (and yes, it IS here, buddy), I’m super excited to transition my wardrobe from bikinis + shorts to jeans + layering! By the way, trying to wear jeans in Houston in the summer should be rewarded with a medal of honor. It’s ridiculously difficult to get in them, stay in them, and not murder anyone. Anywho… I’ve been oogling lots of great pieces that can be layered throughout this transition time.
Here’s a few goodies I’ve found:
I love a good staple like this one that can last you for a few seasons. Bomber jackets + utility vests have been in for a little while now, but it’s taken me a bit to get on board. I’ve been looking for that ONE perfect vest/jacket that I could wear that wouldn’t cost a small fortune. This one is $79 and would be so cute with a t-shirt, long sleeve shirt, or even a tank like the model is wearing. LOVE IT!
Jean jackets have also made a big comeback in the fashion world. Just like the bomber jacket, you’ve gotta find the perfect one. I love this one because it’s not too pricy ($118), and the colors are exactly what I’m looking for. I want one that’s not super light (think chambray), but also not too dark. I also weirdly love what the inside cuffs look like once you’ve rolled the sleeves up.
Okay – I’m not usually distracted by the models in pictures, but what’s going on here? What are we thinking? Hmm? I’m guessing she’s dreaming about a delicious Pasta Carbonara with a solid Cabernet. Or is that me?
Moving on… THIS is my staple t-shirt. Like my all-time favorite, go-to tee. Jon doesn’t always love them because they’re not skin-tight, but that’s exactly why I love them. I usually order a small so they’re somewhat snug but not form-fitting. The model’s looks a little too big, so don’t be fooled by the fit of this one. Plus, at only $16 right now, it’s a steal!
Madewell Whisper Cotton V-Neck Pocket Tee
LOFT also makes great tees that are fitting without being too snug. They also come in some really cute colors that are perfect for layering + pairing with cardigans, vest, and jackets. PLUS right now, they’re on sale (buy one, get one 50% off)!
BP also makes great tees – I especially love their long sleeve tees. I have this one in a few colors that I can mix and match with other things. Right now, this puppy is only $15!
LOFT has some of my favorite jeans. They always fit just the way I want them to whether I’m going for slim and sexy or loose and comfy. I just went down a jean size, too (toot toot for cutting out carbs and subbing for cauliflower), so I’m kinda excited to get some new pairs in a smaller size! These are also buy one, get one 50% off right now!
LOFT Curvy Skinny Jeans Dark Indigo
LOFT Modern Straight Leg Jeans
Blush is THE color right now, so getting a cute pump in this cute color is definitely on my list. The style is classic, too, so I know they’ll last me for quite a while. I’d pair these babies with some dark skinny jeans + a crisp white top.
Steve Madden Daisie Pointy Toe Pump
I know I’ve talked a lot before about Alex and Ani, but I really can’t get enough of them right now. They stand for such a great cause (read here if you don’t know about them). They recently got some Calavera (Sugar Skull) pieces that I’m kind of obsessed with. I’m currently wearing the first piece, and I’m hoping to get the second sometime soon!
If at first you look at these and think, “Uhmmm creepy…” then lemme educate ya on the Calavera. It represents our ancestors who’ve passed on, and it’s celebrated mostly in the celebration of Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead). Think: All Saint’s Day if your church celebrates that. Basically, it’s a symbol of celebration of the past and holding close those we’ve lost already. If you know me, then you know that’s especially important to me. (Pineapple… ‘m I right?)
Alex and Ani Calavera Color Infusion Charm Bangle
One of my good friends gave me a Calavera necklace as a bridesmaid’s gift, and I can’t tell you how many times a week I wear it. I get some funny looks sometimes from people who don’t get it, but I’m okay with that. I know that it represents something dark yet beautiful.
I know this isn’t really fashion, but if you haven’t gotten yourself a good dry shampoo, you’re missin’ out. I use this every other day (days I don’t wash my hair because… mom life… or just life really). It’s lightweight, smells good, and doesn’t leave my hair feeling starchy. LOVE IT!
This little number is on my wish list right now. My sister-in-law swears by it, and I can’t wait to try it out! Some products don’t work with my hair, but most Dry Bar products seem to do well. Since I get my hair colored pretty often, I have to take pretty good care of it. I’m fairly particular when it comes to hair products, and this stuff is GOLD!
What are some of your favorite pieces, trends, and things you look forward to during this summer – fall transition?
I hope you enjoyed this Transition Time: Summer to Fall post. If you did, check out these other similar ones.
I went to drybar for the first time a few weeks back, why haven’t I been sooner? Next time we’re in the same city we’re going! I loved the products they used on my hair! Also I may just have to get that bomber vest! 😊
I know right!? We have to go together for sure!
