Rule #107: It’s my party, and I’ll cry if I want to.

It’s been a busy back-to-school season already for us! Brookie had her 3rd birthday last weekend, and we had the best time. She had multiple outfit changes, a few tantrums that ended in smiles, and ate her weight in cookies. It’s hard to believe our little Texas Tornado is already 3! I feel like we just brought her home.

Sweet baby girl sure does love her Daddy. I believe this particular it’s-my-party-and-I’ll-cry-if-I-want-to moment was brought to you by a frustration that her pretty dress wasn’t the right size… even though it was…

Our neighbor made these amazing cookies for Brooke’s party. Her company is called Underground Confection, and I would 10/10 recommend using her! The cookies not only tasted amazing but were so gorgeous and perfectly matched the theme.

I’m still oo-ing and aww-ing over our teak dining table outside. It felt so good to be able to use it again now that it’s all purty and clean! Getting her back in shape was a serious labor of love (details here).

These flowers made for a beautiful centerpiece for the table. I’ve actually had them since Brooke’s First Birthday, so it was fun to get to reuse them again for another birthday party. I also layered this garland underneath the flower garland.

As for the food for the party, we kept it easy-breezy with some grilled burgers and hot dogs, fruit and veggie trays, chips, and this Easy Pasta Salad. It’s so simple to put together and make ahead of time! I made ours the day before and kept it nestled in the fridge. I love serving party food in Nora Fleming Servingware because of the changeable accessories. I used the birthday cake one for Brookie’s party to keep it festive!

Here is the cute fruit tray on the Nora Fleming melamine platter. I used the pineapple mini for obvious reasons. All of my Nora Fleming servingware came from The Brook Home & Gift.

Like Mama, like daughter: two hot mess expresses! Ha! Brookie is back at school (Mother’s Day Out), and Mama is PUMPED! She loves her school and teachers, so I don’t feel one teensie bit guilty for saying that.

PEACE BABAYYYY! Mama is FREE!!! I used Corey’s First Day of School sign to create my own little First Day of School for Mommy sign. Works both ways, ‘m I right?

Brookie doesn’t have school on Fridays, so we get to have little Mommy + Brooke Dates! Last Friday, she chose Chili’s as our destination. I can’t say that I absolutely love the place, but I do love that my baby girl knows what she wants and asks for it without hesitation.

We got to celebrate Back to School with a super fun bubble truck with our neighbors! It was the best time. It was our first experience with one, and we will definitely be happy to do it again!

This dress from Amazon is far and above my favorite find this past month. It’s comfy, flattering, and it’s a great transition piece for summer to fall. These sandals are another of my favorites!

I just styled the dress with a little jean jacket and mules to make it FALL ready… which oh my heavens am I ready for some cooler weather!

I went on my first run in 6 months the other day, and I can’t explain how amazing it felt. There’s nothing like the freedom of hitting the pavement with the earbuds blasting and letting go of all the stress and worries of the day. Unfortunately, my leg pain caused by damaged nerves in my hip caused me to have to table another run until after my upcoming ablation later this month. I’m hoping to end the chronic pain I’ve had these past months as a birthday gift to myself!

Jon Boy had a little too much fun a couple of weeks ago. He and Corey set up a Nerf War situation in the garage. The printed out all of the Storm Trooper figures, colored them, I laminated them, and then they put them up on the garage door. Jon turned the lights out, put on his head lamp, and the boys took them Storm Troopers DOWN!

Serious bad dude, man. They’re still up on the garage door… just in case you are wondering.

Callie Panchita has been loving all the fun of the past few weeks. She got a little overly-funned-out at Brooke’s party though! Decided to take a snooze behind the curtain in hopes of drowning out all the noise.

I think it’s time we move her to a bigger kennel though…

My new favorite easy, healthy lunch has been a little combo of things. This lunch plate was just 370 calories and SUPER delicious!

This caprese salad from HEB is a definite hit! Very delicious and low calorie and carb.

I’m also very pumped about this Spinach and Artichoke Dip from Costco. It’s got a long shelf life, so I’m not worried about it going bad before we finish it. It tastes great with veggies and mini naan bread (also sold at Costco).

I’m currently obsessed with my FAM Organics CBD Oil. It’s USDA Certified Organic, and is a full spectrum CBD Oil. I use it at night when I wake up at 1:00 or 3:00 and can’t go back to sleep. Just one dropper full of the CBD Oil, and I’m back to nighty night in no time. I hate when you can’t get yourself back to sleep after a little noise wakes you up. Makes for a rough day the next day!

I hope everyone has a great weekend, and that you take time to honor and remember those we lost in 9/11 twenty years ago. #NeverForget
