Life Lately
Rule #49: When you become a parent, going to the bathroom alone becomes a luxury.
Life has been pretty good, but crazy lately. Home boy here is finally (knocking on wood as I type) over a nasty virus that gave him a temp of over 102 for 5 straight days! It was pretty scary for Mama + Daddy. High fevers and little bodies don’t make for an easy week. He was well enough just in time to get to go to his class’s Valentine’s Party. It was simply adorable. Cute Valentine’s cards, heart-shaped candies, homemade cookies from his teachers, and an attempt at a group song (with 12 2-year-olds).
I just recently introduced the Big Boy Potty to the Big Guy. He’s no where near ready to start using it, but I wanted him to at least get acquainted with it for now. I think he’s getting the idea because every time Mommy or Daddy have to potty, he scoots his little hiney into the room with us and plops down to read a book on his Big Boy Potty. It’s real cute. I don’t have any privacy whatsoever anymore, but it’s all good. Mickey makes for riveting entertainment when it’s read by a two-year-old.
I’m attempting to keep another orchid alive this year! I got some good tips from the florist at our H-E-B. She said that orchids are pretty dry plants, so only to use about a medicine capful of water for each plant (mine has three) every week. I would think they’d need lots more water, which is probably why all of my previous orchids have bit the dust…
Excuse my non make-up/workout face, but Corey and I got to have not one but TWO lunch date with my sweet sister-in-law and nephew this week! It was a real treat for both us and our boys. Big Man here got a special Valentine’s Day cookie, so he was of course a happy camper.
Target’s Cat & Jack brand has been very on point lately! I bought this hat for a friend’s adorable one-year-old baby boy, and I had to go back to get C one. He’s a fedora fan after all.
See what I mean? Although right here, we’re getting a glimpse of the teenage years. Look at those mean, “Mom, seriously?” eyes.
Here’s the cabana boy in deep conversation with his cousin. Two year olds have seriously intellectual conversations when it comes to Chick-fil-a’s fruit apparently.
Lunch Date #2 for the week!
We got to sneak outside and enjoy the gorgeous weather this week, too! I absolutely LOVE being outside. I tend to forget how much I love it during the winter because I’m so focused on running inside from the cold. I’m a much happier lady when there’s sunshine and breeze around me.
On Saturday, Jon Boy and I went on a little date to celebrate his birthday a bit early! We hadn’t been on a date in a looooooooooong time, so it was much needed. We went back to one of our faves, The Republic Grille. If you live on the north side of Houston, you’ve got to go! We went last year and loved it just as much!
We definitely ate our fill and made up for the lack of date nights recently… We started with their Spinach + Artichoke Dip. Jon Boy had their double-bone-in pork chop (to die for), and I had the Chicken Marsala. Everything is amazing there, including the drinks!
Cheers and have a good one, y’all!
