Rule #72: Second time’s a charm.
These pictures are so special to me for many, many reasons. Some I can’t really put into words. We didn’t have the chance to take maternity pictures when I was pregnant with Corey. They were actually scheduled for the same week my brother died, and I had absolutely zero desire to reschedule them before he was born. It was a dark time, and I frankly didn’t want a single picture to memorialize it.
Being able to take these pictures in such a happy time with Corey alongside us made the wait even sweeter. He’s been a beaming ray of sunshine since the moment he was born, and that’s even more evident in these beautiful pictures. Heather and Lauren with Happy Camper Photography are two truly talented, “we get it” kind of mamas who know exactly what it takes to capture genuinely happy faces in families of all stages and ages. All photo cred and worship goes to them!
I felt very little like the swollen, sweaty, pregnant lady I was in these pictures. This dress was a big part of that good feeling. [The dress and Spanx, of course.] It’s actually not a maternity dress, but I thought it worked well for this phase of the baby bump. It’s lightweight, breathable, but still covers everything that needs covering.
We all wore pink and blue as a kind of ‘sign’ that we’re both team boy and team girl! We have no idea what Baby G #2 is, although I have a slight intuition we’re on the road to having two crazy boys running around here soon.
Corey put his hands behind his back like this all morning. It was the cutest thing, but honestly I have no idea where it came from! He hasn’t done it before or since. I guess he was getting into that “formal picture” mode.
Heather and Lauren chose Chmielewski’s Blueberry Farm for the location of our pictures. Corey could not have been happier or his tummy more joyful than to get to pick blueberries and eat them for 30 minutes straight! He was a happy fella, to say the least.
