It’s been a tough week for our family. My husband’s grandpa passed away, and to say he was a pillar of strength for his family would be an understatement. We’re all very saddened by his passing, but we look forward to seeing him one day again. I hate that death has such a sharp sting. It doesn’t matter whether someone dies at 21 or 86, it’s a very difficult time for those who love them.
I saw this verse posted by a few blogs I follow, and it just fit perfectly for Grandpa Joe.
“As for me, my life has already been poured out as an offering to God. The time of my death is near. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful.” 2 Timothy 4:6-7
During his funeral, the priest reminded us of the ten commandments. He reminded us that there is no asterisk on any of them, including the one about honoring your mother and father. He explained that just because your mother and father are no longer on this earth, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t still honor them. That really stuck with me. Honoring our mothers and fathers means continuing to do so even after they pass. I hope that I can do that for those who’ve gone before me.
Switching to happier times, Corey is LOVING his swim lessons! He even got his first “report card” last week. His teacher was very proud of him. Corey actually went underwater about 20 times and held his breath and closed his eyes! It was awesome!

He was feeling very snuggly this week, too. I soaked it in as much as I could. The days are long, but the years are short.
This cool kid even got to go watch his big cousin play soccer! He’s her number one fan, for sure!
The weather was so beautiful this week, so we were outside a TON. Great for us; bad for our allergies. Corey wasn’t quite thrilled about the selfie game at the time.
This kid looooooooves to watch for trucks out of any window. I remember when we first moved in to the house that he couldn’t even see out this window while standing on his tippy toes. I can’t believe how fast time flies and how fast this kid is growing! Me thinketh it’s time for number twoeth.
I found one of my favorite childhood books in a stash of boxes from the move. It was, to put it nicely, a very well-read book, so I found a new copy on Amazon! It’s the sweetest Easter book and the illustrations really take me back (like wayyyyyy back).
