Halloween Decor 2019
Rule #151: Dogs will always wear costumes on major [and some minor] holidays.
It’s that time of year! Pumpkins, ghosts, jack-o-lanterns, and all the cute costumes for the dogs! What? Is that not your focus for Halloween? I look forward every year to shaming Penny with our collection of costumes. It’s her annual penance for randomly peeing on the carpet and bringing nasty tennis balls in the house. I’ll share a few samples of this year’s costumes at the end of this post. I wanted to give y’all a sneak peek into the craziness that is our house during Halloween! I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE decorating for fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. It’s my favorite time of year!
I’ve been building up my collection from Hobby Lobby for years now. I love going when all of their Halloween decor is on sale. The good thing about ole Hob Lob too is that they usually continue the same pieces for a few years in a row.
I’m obsessed with automatically-timed candles. It’s a problem, really.
I got the 4 matching ghosts over the course of a few years.
I didn’t really want to get crazy with the dining room table, so I just threw on some old witches hats I found in the dollar section of Target.
I added just a few Halloween touches to the fall decor in our kitchen hutch.
I’m really starting to love decorating this ole tiered tray. At first it was pretty daunting, but now that there are “themes” for the season I’m digging it!
There’s Halloween everywhere in this house, y’all. It’s a little embarrassing.
Can’t stop. Won’t stop. Even on the fridge. I think I need to find little orange candles for this fella. What do you think?
I love these sweet towels from Magpie’s!
I also added some little baskets behind the vases on top of the cabinets. I like that it adds a little more depth and color up there. Hobby Lobby really has my number, y’all.
More BOOS Please!
I also am trying to incorporate more Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) into our Halloween traditions. I love that it’s a celebration of family, food, and tradition. The calaveras (sugar skulls) used to freak me out, but now I kind of love them.
The witch hat on the wine was Jon Boy’s touch.
Jon Boy hates these little Halloween trees, but I think they’re gaudy and perfect! Corey asked me if they were black Christmas trees. I said, “Nope! They’re our Halloween trees!”
Now for the dog costumes (so far) this year:
Spaghetti & Meatballs
Darth Vader (this year’s Trick-or-Treating costume)
Rufferee
And my Mom Costume this season has been a steady repeat of these cute fall and Halloween tanks from Target (They have one with Candy Corn, Bats, and Pumpkins) ! We’re still waiting on the cold weather to come down here to Houston…
