Home Tour: Spring 2019

Rule #305: You never know how much you need to clean your house until you try to take pictures of it.

This is a seriously scary post for me. I love to decorate, but I’m by no means an expert at it. I just buy things we like, throw ’em around, and hope they land somewhere decent. Jon Boy likes to have a say in the Decoration Department, so he’s a big help, too! With that said, here’s a little tour of our home this spring!

Welcome to Casa de Gorman!

We’ve got an open floor plan, so this is the view from upstairs. I’m relishing in this moment when everything was clean and put away. It was a great 94 seconds.

We had these chairs reupholstered after my sweet in-laws gave them to us when we had NO furniture in the living room (for about 6 solid months). The fabric is actually by Magnolia Home! Gotta love some Joanna Gaines.

This table was actually my dad’s. It’s beaten up, scratched, dented, and well loved. Pretty sure it’s from Target circa 1994. And I love it!

This is my dream kitchen: open, huge stove, barstools so folks can talk to me while I cook, and tons of counterspace for all of my gadgets!

My new obsession: decorating a tiered tray! So much harder than I thought it would be!

Our butler’s pantry serves as the adults’ bar and Brooke’s bottle bar, too!

I’m a basket freak, so the pantry is organized (at least to us) by item type. There’s a basket for snacks, condiments, paper goods, kitchen utensils, baking goods, tomato products, etc. It’s organized chaos really. I wanted the baskets to be sturdy but still see-thru, so these baskets from At Home do the job!

Our dining room was the first room in the house to be totally decorated and clean when we moved in. I try so, so hard to keep it looking like this throughout the week because it’s nice to have that one place that’s “put together” in the midst of chaos.

I’m only going to show half of our bedroom because the other half is full of baby stuff and a really ugly recliner (that we love). I love the color of our walls! The room is so much more comforting now that we’ve got some deep color going on.

Our closet is a hot mess. It’s actually on the never-ending List ‘O Projects for our house. I’m planning on organizing the snot outta this room!

Welcome to My Office, aka the utility room. I have my fave inspirational quotes on the wall that I have a lot of time to read seeing as how our family has enough laundry to keep me in here for hours every day!

Our Mother-in-Law room, also known as Aunt Mo’s room.

Corey’s Big Boy Room is just yer basic sports theme. His Daddy had a lot of fun finding his old Astros figurines to put on Corey’s shelf, as well as the many sports team banners along the wall.

He loves the magnetic board in the corner there, but he equally loves to take the pictures off the board and sort them by family member. We’ve made a new rule that he’s got to put them back on the board before he can leave the room. Mama can’t handle missing items.

I’ve posted this before, but I just love this bunk bed set. It belonged to Jon Boy and his brothers growing up. I love that Corey gets to use it now!

Another special little piece of Corey’s room: my brother’s old baseball decoration and signed Rangers’ helmet.

I posted every detail you’d ever want (and more) about Brooke’s Tribal Nursery here.

The playroom has come a LOOOOOOONG way since we first moved in 3 years ago. I’m happy with where it’s finally at now. It’s a useable space for the kids that’s comfortable for me and Jon Boy, too. We like to spend lazy Saturday mornings up here with our coffee, some retro cartoons, and getting pretend breakfast made by Corey.

I found this bucket + bookshelf setup originally on Pinterest (links are under the pic). It’s been great to categorize the toys and throw ’em back in when we’re done playing. The sticker decals on the wall are a nice pop of color, too!

We mounted the other shelving unit to the wall, just in case we have any climbers out there. Jon Boy also velcroed the camera to a wedge of wood so we could get a better view of the happenings inside the ole playroom.

This little ole horse has seen some years of play, lemme tell ya. My Dad built this for me back when I was a youngin’.

This little nook is right outside of the playroom next to a guest bedroom. I like this hidden little spot because can shove even more toys away!

Playroom Storage

Our “game room” area which is really “Mama’s coffee and news” area on the rare mornings when we don’t have to be somewhere. This couch set actually went in our living room at our house in Dallas, but was too big for the living room at our current house. So, on the day we moved in, we moved this hunker upstairs and went without furniture downstairs for a while. We were roughing it.

This hutch is the thing of dreams. She hides all of our board games, seasonal books (Christmas, Easter, Halloween, etc.), and even a few toys that aren’t meant for tiny mouths.

Game Room

This guest room is the quietest room in the house with a great view of our street. I find myself hiding in here a lot.

Well, that’s all for now, folks! Hope you enjoyed this little peak into our house!
